Wonderful spring days: the perfect vacation in May and June
Experience spring in Baden-Baden: relaxing hikes, rhododendrons & roses, asparagus and strawberries in May & June. This is how the region’s blossoming joie de vivre is revealed.
Perfect for trips to the sporting highlights of 2024: Stuttgart and the European Football Championships, Paris and the Olympic Games.
Rose trail
Baden-Baden is also the city of parks and rose gardens. The air smells of flower meadows as you walk along the forest and rose trail around beautiful Baden-Baden. You can download the maps here.
From the Kurhaus you reach the Trinkhalle with its legendary walkway. From here, a small path leads up the Michaelsberg to the imposing sequoia trees at the Stourdza Chapel. Be sure to look up to the golden domed roof!
From here, take the path towards the Friesenberghütte and enjoy the scent of the old forests. You will soon arrive at the beautiful rose garden on the Beutig (open from mid-April to mid-October; admission: €1). The rose garden is located above the villa area on Beutig, with richly decorated houses and magnificently flowering front gardens.
You can walk back down through the villa area to Lichtentaler Allee. If you still feel like it, treat yourself to a detour to the Gönneranlage, the older of the two rose gardens. You return to your starting point, the Kurhaus Baden-Baden, along Lichtentaler Allee.

Asparagus recipe from the chef
Our French chef Roland loves the Baden region with its abundance of vegetables, fruit and wine. So that you can eat typical Baden food at home, he reveals a delicious but uncomplicated recipe for 4 people:
- 1.5 kg fresh asparagus from our region
- 2 shallots & 1 bunch of chives
- 300 g early carrots
- 150 g fresh small peas
- 30 g dried pointed morels
- 2 cl dry white wine
- 50 g butter
- 400 ml cream
The preparation
Cut the peeled asparagus into 4 cm pieces and cook in salted water with a pinch of sugar until al dente. Rinse in ice-cold water. Keep 1/4 l of the asparagus stock.
Peel the carrots and cut into small cubes. Cook the peas and carrots in salted water until al dente.
Boil the pointed morels in salted water for 5 minutes and cut in half lengthways.
Sauté the finely chopped shallots in butter, deglaze with the asparagus stock and white wine. Reduce. Add the cream, bring to the boil, season with salt and pepper.
Bring all the cooked ingredients to the boil in the cream sauce and arrange in deep plates. Garnish with chives. Ideal with pancakes or boiled potatoes.
