THERMAL BATHS BADEN-BADEN – GREAT SPAS
THE WELLNESS OASES OF THE SPA TOWN
When gambling was banned in Baden-Baden in 1868, they had to come up with something very special and built the large Friedrichsbad.
In 1877, 17 bathing stations were opened for spa guests. The rush was so great that just 2 years later construction began on a second bath, the Augustabad.
As we all know, times change and the Augusta Spa went out of fashion, so today we have a modern wellness oasis on 30,000 square meters at our disposal in the form of the Caracalla Spa. With several indoor and outdoor pools and 8 different saunas, you can relax in an award-winning spa landscape.
At the latest when you have dived into the bath in the dome building and look up, you will have forgotten reality. Mark Twain already recognized this correctly: “Here in the Friedrichsbad you forget time after 10 minutes and the world after 20 minutes”.
THE FRIEDRICHSBAD
Enter the noble bathing temple, already the entrée will impress you. At the cash desk you can book fine extras, such as soap and cream massages. You should definitely treat yourself to this.
Well equipped with bathrobe and towels, your adventure begins in the anteroom to the shower. At the latest now you enter another time, when you are brought and guided by a bath attendant to the large pattering rain shower. Just like in a spa in the olden days.
The 17 stations of Baden-Baden’s oldest operating spa begin with a gentle warm-up on heated stone loungers. Are you ready for the bathing cycle? Then from now on you will go through a landscape of hot air and steam baths, cold pools, hot pools and relaxation rooms.
In fact, you can also rent completely private bathing rooms, such as the Kaiserbad. In principle, the Friedrichsbad is textile-free.
Thermal water is a real fountain of youth
The Caracalla Spa Baden-Baden is the modern counterpart to the Friedrichsbad. Our hotel at the Sophienpark in direct proximity to this impressive bathing landscape. On more than 4000 sqm are large bathing pools with thermal water of different temperatures and a sauna landscape with 8 different sweat rooms. No wonder the well-known wellness oasis receives top marks on Tripadvisor again and again.
The outdoor pools of the Caracalla Spa are a special highlight in winter, when you lie in the water on long stone benches in the middle of the snow and look up at the starry sky. In January, during the Festival of Lights, countless lanterns and illuminants in and outside the water conjure up a completely enchanting atmosphere.
Give yourself a rest
Relaxation can be found in whirlpools, the Blue Space sensory room or in the many other rest areas of the Caracalla. Of course, sun-seekers may use the solariums.
You can round off your wellness day with cosmetic treatments in the beauty department. Here, choose from completely customized treatments exactly what will make your beauty shine.
The bar offers freshly squeezed juices and many fine drinks that help to regulate the water and mineral balance. Or would you like a delicious snack?
Some like it hot
One floor up, you enter the large sauna area. Here you can choose temperatures between 57 and 90 degrees, depending on your gusto. The largest sauna is the Spektakulum with 60 sqm. Professional infusions are accompanied here by a unique light and sound system. The hot tip is the experience infusions!
Otherwise, there is an aroma sauna, vitality sauna, a steam bath, a meditation sauna and a sanarium. Most people will find the log cabin saunas in the Caracalla Spa’s castle garden particularly atmospheric. In rustic wooden cabins, you gaze into the scorching flames of the sauna oven at 90-95 degrees while the Finnish polar pine exudes its unmistakable ethereal scent.
