Great day trips for families
First of all, the people of Baden love children. Over all kids are very welcome. This makes Baden-Baden the ideal starting point for vacations. The city is peacefully surrounded by the Black Forest and benefits from fresh clean air and a mild climate. As soon as you get hungry on day trips, the next typical rustic restaurant is already in sight. You can happily leave the car behind, because most destinations are easily accessible by public transport. Sounds relaxed? It is!
We have great offers for direct bookers.

VISITOR CENTER NATIONALPARK RUHESTEIN
At an altitude of 900m lies the modern visitor center, which is visually modeled on trees lying around. You will be thrilled by the interior design, but definitely by the wonderfully created information opportunities.
There is an interactive exhibition on the wilderness, a cinema, a bridge over the treetops, as well as a great store and a café with an outdoor terrace. From Ruhestein you can set off to the most beautiful hiking destinations, something to the rugged Karlsruher Grat (steep rock formation) or, to the visitor mine Silbergründle (1.5h). Or you hike over the ridges back to the individual stations such as Darmstädter Hütte, Mummelsee, Hornisgrinde, Unterstmatt and Hundseck (about 15km). Please ask at the front desk for further information.
Are you looking for a comfortable way? Please take the nostalgic chairlift on the slope opposite the visitor center and walk the circular route through the wild grinding landscape on the heights.
Bus line X45 departs hourly from Leopoldsplatz, always at the 46th minute.
WILDERNESS TRAIL (Wildnispfad)
Where can you still find it, the real wilderness? After the hurricane Lothar, which devastated large parts of the Black Forest, the adventure trails Luchspfad, Wildnispfad and Lotharpfad were created. Pfad means trail, by the way. Here, nature has been given free rein since the year 2000 and only narrow paths have been laid, many information points on wildlife and plants or small climbing aids have been created.
Wilderness and lynx trail are located at the bus stop Plättig/Bühlerhöhe, only 20 minutes from downtown Baden-Baden. A free parking area is located here, too.
You will need good shoes and a medium level of fitness, because you will have to climb over trees lying around or crawl underneath again and again.
You will be amazed what nature has done in the last 23 years! And for your children it offers a unique opportunity for a real adventure.
Bus line X45 leaves every hour from Leopoldsplatz, always at the 46th minute.

MERCUR MOUNTAIN & FUNICULAR RAILROAD
Do you want to visit one of the biggest amusement parks? Then it is best to plan a whole day for it. 83 kilometers separate you from 18 themed worlds, 100 rides and the large water park Rutlantica.
Silver Star is the most notorious of the 13 roller coasters with a length of 1620 meters and a top speed of 127 km/h. The Blue Fire Megacoaster accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds! Or are the temperatures tempting you more to a water slide? Everyone will find the right fun here, and there is also a wide selection of rides and entertainment for the little ones.
If you don’t want to drive by car to Rust, the train will take you to a dedicated stop directly at Europa-Park in about 1.5 hours.
TIME FOR A SWIM
The Bertholdbad exudes the charm of the 60s. Where else can you find the original string-covered loungers and the typical pavilion for refreshments. The best part: This nostalgic bath is located directly on Lichtentaler Allee, a 10 minutes walk from the hotel, and has an area for small children. Opening hours 07:30 – 21:00 hrs.
The Hardbergbad is ideal for swimmers who want to do laps and children who are already allowed on larger slides. It is idyllically located on a slope in the western part of the city. Opening hours 10:00 – 20:00. Hardbergstraße 32, 76532 Baden-Baden, Germany
Strandbad Sandweiher is a quarry pond (Kühlsee) with a beach and a large meadow area. Permanent supervision by the Stadtwerke on weekdays and Saturdays. Lifeguards of the DLRG local group on Sundays. Opening hours 10:00 – 20:00.
Even in summer, the Caracalla Spa is a wonderful place to relax for adults, just around the corner, so to speak. The water temperature is lowered a bit and the outdoor area is much emptier than in the outdoor pools.
