Our Hotel am Sophienpark is the perfect starting point for your winter adventures, be it skiing, snowboarding or a romantic walk through snow-covered forests. In just 30 minutes you are in the high altitudes.
FINALLY SNOW!
As soon as the first flakes fall, our children’s eyes light up again. When was the last time you had a snowball fight, tobogganed down the slopes laughing or drew an angel in the snow?
A dreamlike winter wonderland awaits you just 30 kilometres from the hotel. The direct X45 line to Hundseck, Seibelseckle, Mummelsee and Ruhestein departs from Leopoldsplatz.
From all stops, you can set off directly on hikes, snowshoe tours or ski tours. There is a perfect cross-country skiing centre in Herrenwies, where you can also hire all the equipment you need. Winter sports are very important to us, which is why you will find the best conditions everywhere.

Mehliskopf leisure and sports centre
The Mehliskopf Sport & Freizeitzentrum offers fantastic opportunities for all winter sports enthusiasts. The piste is perfectly groomed and the snow park with 28 Obstakles is a great challenge. With 32,200 square metres of perfectly shaped kickers, lots of rails and boxes for boarders and skiers, there is plenty of fun to be had.
There is a ski and snowboard school as well as an excellent hire centre. If you want to set off on peaceful snowshoe hikes from here, you have wonderful opportunities in the Black Forest National Park.
The Strotzl Alm – Sportalp am Mehliskopf is a cosy place to stop for a bite to eat or for a snack in the pavilion by the piste.
WINTER HOLIDAYS WITH CHILDREN
On Hundseck you will find a well-prepared toboggan slope right next to the ski piste. The sun shines here until the afternoon, which is particularly healthy for children.
The ski piste on Hundseck is ideal for beginners. And what is particularly convenient for travellers: you can also hire ski equipment right there in the shop.
Very young children can either practise on the flatter part of the piste first or go one station further to Seibelseckle. The regular piste here is more challenging, but there is a small, separate section for very young children to practise on. You can never start winter sports early enough.
Both Hundseck and Seibelseckle are equally cosy places to stop for a bite to eat. This makes a winter holiday with children really relaxing.
thermal water & sauna
How wonderful to warm up again in the Caracalla Spa after a day in the snow.
You will find pure relaxation in the many thermal pools with different temperatures. Into the hot pool, then into the really cold water! This trains the body’s defences and is good for the muscles.
Would you like more? Then the Caracalla also offers a wonderful sauna area with 5 saunas and a steam bath inside and a forest sauna and fire sauna outside.
