Open Air between roses
Romantic Summer Moments in Baden-Baden: Roses, Concerts & Open-Air Cinema
A true highlight of Baden-Baden in summer is a stroll along the Lichtentaler Allee – the city’s largest park, stretching 3.5 kilometers along the Oos River. This lush promenade enchants visitors with its exotic trees and serene atmosphere.
Right in the heart of the park lies the Gönneranlage, a stunning rose garden featuring vibrant beds and an impressive fountain – the perfect spot to pause and take in the beauty.
If you’re in the mood for a light hike, head up to Moltkestraße 3, to the Beutig rose garden. This hidden gem is considered one of the most beautiful rose gardens in the region. Each year, new rose varieties are officially named here. The garden is open daily until early October, from 9 AM until dusk.
Adding to the magic of the blooming roses are the open-air concerts by the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra – a beloved summer tradition:
June 19: Rosenkonzert 1.0 – Una serata Italiana
June 20: Rosenkonzert 2.0 – Suitable Suites
June 21: Rosenkonzert 3.0 – Una noche española
All concerts begin at 8:00 PM. Tickets: €32–€39. Advance purchase from the Tourist Office at the Colonnades: €36. In case of rain, the concert moves to the Weinbrennersaal in the Kurhaus.
And there’s more: in August, the Moonlight Cinema lights up the night with feel-good summer films shown on a giant screen under the stars – a perfect way to spend a romantic summer evening in Baden-Baden.
Baden-Baden Summer Festival: World-Class Music in an Iconic Setting
June 27 – July 6, 2025
Summer is a time to relax, reflect, and find yourself — and for centuries, that’s exactly what visitors have come to Baden-Baden for. As the “Summer Capital of Europe,” the city is evolving while honoring its rich heritage. This year, a brand-new stage opens in the world-famous Gönneranlage, setting the tone for an unforgettable festival season.
The Baden-Baden Summer Festival brings classical music into the heart of the city, attracting new audiences and making the seemingly impossible possible: such as a Silent Disco, designed to engage younger visitors while respecting nature’s tranquility.
For nine extraordinary days, renowned conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin will act as the city’s unofficial king, opening the Summer Gala outdoors in this stunning setting.
The festival closes with a tribute to Mozart on the Festspielhaus stage. Alongside the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Nézet-Séguin will conduct the Orchestre Métropolitain de Montréal from his native Canada.

Relax and Refresh! Even in the heat of summer in Baden-Baden, the Caracalla Therme is a wonderful place to unwind—just around the corner from the city center. The water temperature is slightly cooler than usual, and the outdoor pools are much less crowded compared to the public outdoor baths.
Step back in time at the Bertholdbad, which radiates 1960s charm. Where else can you find original cord-strung deck chairs and a classic pavilion serving refreshments? The best part: this nostalgic pool lies right along the beautiful Lichtentaler Allee. Open daily from 7:30 AM to 9:00 PM.
For swimmers looking to do laps and kids ready for bigger slides, the Hardbergbad is ideal. Nestled on a hillside in the Weststadt district, it offers a perfect mix of relaxation and fun. Open daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Address: Hardbergstraße 32, 76532 Baden-Baden.
If you prefer a natural beach setting, visit the Strandbad Sandweiher—a large gravel lake with a sandy shore and spacious meadow. Supervised by the city utilities on weekdays and Saturdays, and lifeguards from the local DLRG group on Sundays. Open daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Where to Enjoy the Best Sunset in Baden-Baden?
It’s not easy to pick the perfect spot for watching the most beautiful sunset in Baden-Baden. Some suggest the charming Wasserspiel at Paradies or the historic Old Castle. But we believe the Merkur Mountain offers a truly special experience.
At 680 meters above sea level, the view from the Merkurstüble terrace stretches across the Rhine Valley all the way to the Vosges Mountains. Enjoying delicious food and drinks here while watching the sunset makes everything feel just right.
If you prefer to skip the hike up and down, the Merkurbahn funicular takes you comfortably to the top.
