Springtime Splendor: Arboretum & Lichtentaler Allee
A riot of rhododendrons and magnolias: Baden-Baden dazzles in its full glory in May.
Stroll along the historic Lichtentaler Allee, where centuries-old trees and vibrant flowerbeds set the perfect scene for a leisurely walk. Get Outdoors: Panorama Trail & Flowing Waters
Breathe in the spring air on Germany’s most beautiful hiking trail. As the first rays of sun warm the Black Forest slopes, hiking enthusiasts are drawn outdoors.
The stages of the Baden-Baden Panorama Trail offer spectacular springtime views over the Rhine Valley all the way to the Vosges. A true sensory highlight is the hike to the Geroldsau Waterfall. As the water cascades powerfully into the valley, rhododendrons begin to bloom all around.
Spring is the perfect time to experience nature in its purest form before the summer heat sets in – a perfect escape for relaxation and rejuvenation.
Blooming Rose Path
Baden-Baden is the city of parks and rose gardens. As May approaches, the air fills with the scent of wildflowers while strolling along the Forest and Rose Trail around beautiful Baden-Baden.
From the Kurhaus, you reach the Trinkhalle with its legendary colonnade. A small path then leads up to Michaelsberg, where the impressive sequoias at Stourdza Chapel await. Be sure to look up at the golden dome!
From there, follow the trail toward Friesenberg Hut, breathing in the fragrance of the ancient forests. Soon, you’ll arrive at the stunning Rose Society Garden on the so called “Beutig” (open mid-April to mid-October; entry: €1). Perched above the villa district of Beutig, the garden is surrounded by ornate houses and beautifully blooming front gardens.
Wander back down through the villa district to the Lichtentaler Allee. If you still have energy, take a detour to the Gönneranlage, the older of the two rose gardens.
