THE FLORIS
We can finally share the news:
Our Hotel at Sophienpark is becoming THE FLORIS.
And that’s just the beginning.
While you are already familiar with our small, intimate 15-room hotel, something much larger is currently taking shape right at the other end of Sophienpark: The historic Grand Hotel is undergoing extensive renovations and will reopen in spring 2027 as
– THE FLORIS –
A HOTEL WITH HISTORY
In 1900, following extensive renovations, the Holland Hotel reopened as the city’s most modern Grand Hotel. In 2027, that elegant charm will return – stylish, casual, and perfectly in tune with today’s spirit.
Right in the heart of Baden-Baden. Rich in history and breathtakingly chic, it will shine in the boutique superior segment.
The interior designers at Konrad Knoblauch GmbH, who have already designed the Dependance, are currently developing the main building as well. Four-star-plus and yet in a class of its own. Elegant, relaxed, and with the charm of Baden-Baden right on your doorstep.
The Dependance remains our first little taste of what’s to come.
Over the next few months, we’ll take you behind the scenes and offer a first glimpse of THE FLORIS.
We look forward to it!
Symbols
They connect us to the building’s architectural history and, above all, to the cosmopolitan mindset of the early 1900s.
Tanja Schuster of GWWP-brands, designs, stories was immediately captivated by the glass dome in the stairwell and used it as the basis for the building’s future signature feature.
The Octahedron
The octahedron was taken directly from the glass roof of the original Grand Hotel.
The shape of the octahedron is derived from the architecture of the early 1900s. Since ancient times, octagonal shapes have been regarded as a symbol of perfection, and later also of renewal and new beginnings.
The octagon was a symbol of resurrection.
The Glass Dome
Around 1900, a striking architectural design that made use of light was created in the style of the time. The octahedron was regarded as a symbol of harmony, energy, and intellectual openness – a geometric shape that represented balance and the union of opposites.
As a Platonic solid, the octahedron was understood as a primal form of nature and was deliberately used as an expression of the balance between heaven and earth.
Logo and Tagline
A historic symbol becomes the new brand identity: THE FLORIS combines history, modern grandeur, and the idea of a place where people can flourish: Your Place to Bloom.
In fact, THE FLORIS begins in the park between the hotel and the annex. A nature-filled place to relax, find oneself, and flourish.
